About

My name is Ian McEwan, I’m a Producer. With more than 6 years in the games industry, my experience is very diverse.

In 2005 I began working with the casual games studio Teabag Games, LLC as Project Manager and Game Designer. During my time at the studio, I managed the day to day development of all active titles. It was my job to create all forms of documentation for each title and make sure communication was flowing between all team members. While development was underway, my focus would shift between day to day project management responsibilities, game designer, and collaborating with company president Michael Nierdsted to lay out studio wide directives.

In early 2007, I was given the opportunity to join the team at 2XL Games, Inc. to help develop BAJA: Edge of Control for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Though initially I was hired to assist with the licensing of teams and sponsors (more than 450 featured in the shipped product) and to improve communication with art outsource studio TQ China, my role quickly moved onto the day-to-day tracking of all art and programming tasks on the title. BAJA shipped on-time and under budget in September 2008, and garnered some good reviews!

2XL then turned it’s attention to a new market that seemed to be becoming the most popular mobile gaming platform: Apple’s iPhone. In April 2009, 2XL’s first title hit the Apple App Store. 2XL Supercross was met with raves review; it was praised as the first game on the iPhone that compares to games on the Sony PSP (iLounge). Continuing on it’s success I was given the opportunity to Produce 2XL Games’ next iPhone title. In October 2009, 2XL ATV Offroad arrived on the iTunes App Store, and garnered praise for once again “[taking] the iPhone to a new level” (ESPN). Not only did the graphics push the device to its limits, but it was also one of the first racing games to feature Wi-Fi based head to head multiplayer.

To finish off 2009, 2XL then took a step into the casual games space with 2XL Fleet Defense and just in game for the Winter X Games 14, ESPN and 2XL came together to develop X Games SnoCross. The game features Winter X Games medalists Levi LaVallee and Heath Frisby. Later in 2010, in partnership with the TrophyLite racing group, 2XL TROPHYLITE Rally was developed and released on the App Store in June 2010 for the iPhone, iPod, as well as a HD version specifically for the iPad. It features more than 30 licensed TrophyLite racing teams, and boasts “absolutely phenomenal” graphics (iPadMODO).

In 2010, joining up with the amazing Michelle Bizzarro, Gary Goldman and legendary animator Don Bluth, Square One Studios was born. The studios first title, Tapper World Tour, is a modern re-imagining of the classic arcade game. In partnership with Warner Bros., the game was released for the iPhone, iPod, as well as a HD version for the iPad in March 2011 on the iTunes App Store. The game was very well received by the press for the incredible artwork, solid gameplay, and the strong amount of polish not usually seen in Apps.

Currently, we are in the process of developing Season Pass, a mobile Free-2-Play football trivia competition where fans across the nation can compete in REAL TME right from their mobile device and showcase their knowledge of football.
